"One woman's wrath is all it takes" 'THE DEVIL TO PAY' - movie review

Toughness can be measured by many feats and challenges but nothing shows grit more than loyalty and love. In Ruckus and Lane Skye's THE DEVIL TO PAY we find a woman scorn and bound to vengeance when her life is turned upside down. Danielle Deadwyler plays a woman taken to the brink. THE DEVIL TO PAY is a fire blazing feature that follows a journey of one central character that won't take her or her son's life for granted in this exceptional thriller.

THE DEVIL TO PAY follows Lemon, an Appalachian mountains lady who must uncover the misfortunes of her husband. He has fallen in with the wrong crowd and owes them something pretty significant that they would kill for to have back. Problem is, they messed with the wrong woman to accomplish these deeds. Deadwyler destroys it in the film. I'm always weary of watching my people prototyped as "country folk" and even after a shaky opening she rounds the character out once the issues arise. All surrounding roles including her son are up to par but none more than our antagonist Tommy Runion played by Catherine Dwyer. She's ruthless in the film and really causes the viewers to have a love hate relationship with the actions she takes.

THE DEVIL TO PAY is a solid dark thriller with odes to midnight westerns were guns and betrayal rule the day. Rewarding performances and a straight forward storyline makes THE DEVIL TO PAY a film for all to enjoy.
