A24 Brings Global Box Office Titan Ne Zha II to U.S. Theaters This August
Last year, Ne Zha II dominated international box offices, becoming a true anime juggernaut—everywhere except the U.S. That’s about to change. A24 has officially picked up the record-shattering fantasy epic for stateside release, with the English-dubbed version set to hit theaters in 3D and IMAX on August 22nd. The new voice cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Vincent Rodriguez III, Aleks Le, Damien Haas, and Crystal Lee.
Directed by Jiao Zi, Ne Zha II arrives with historic momentum. The film has already grossed a staggering $1.9 billion globally, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all time and the most successful non-English-language film in history. It brought in over ¥154.5 billion RMB (~$21.5 billion USD) in China alone—surpassing domestic box office milestones once held by The Force Awakens.
A mythological spectacle wrapped in pulse-pounding animation, Ne Zha II follows the rebellious young demigod Ne Zha, born to mortal parents and feared by the heavens. With wild powers he can’t fully control, he’s humanity’s last hope when an ancient force threatens to bring about the end of the world.
Check out the new trailer and poster—and let us know how hyped you are to finally experience Ne Zha II on U.S. soil.
