Brainstorm Media Unveils Trailer for Jessica Rothe Thriller Affection, In Theaters May 8

A new psychological horror entry is on the way as Brainstorm Media releases the official trailer and poster for Affection, arriving in select theaters May 8, 2026.

The film stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) alongside Joseph Cross and Julianna Layne, and is written and directed by BT Meza.

Affection centers on Ellie, a woman suffering from a mysterious condition that resets her memory, trapping her in a recurring loop. Each reset places her back into a controlled reality with a man who claims to be her husband—forcing her to question everything around her.

As the cycle continues, Ellie begins to piece together fragments of the truth. What emerges is a deeper, more disturbing reality tied to her identity, her past, and the nature of the condition itself. The structure leans into repetition and disorientation, building tension through uncertainty and limited perspective.

The trailer positions the film as a blend of psychological horror, sci-fi, and body horror elements. Visually, it emphasizes confined spaces, fractured memory, and physical unease, suggesting a narrative that evolves through both mental and physiological transformation.

Rothe’s casting places the film within familiar genre territory while shifting tone toward something more grounded and internal. The focus remains on character and perception, with the horror driven by instability rather than external threat alone.

Affection is set for a limited theatrical rollout on May 8.
