Alamo Drafthouse and CAPCOM Team Up for RACCOON CITY CINEMA, Celebrating 30 Years ofÂ
Resident Evil
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and CAPCOM are bringing survival horror off the console and back onto the big screen with RACCOON CITY CINEMA, a month-long screening series celebrating the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil.
Timed ahead of the launch of Resident Evil Requiem on Feb. 27, 2026, the special event kicks off Feb. 6 at select Alamo Drafthouse locations and blends genre cinema, fan culture, and themed dining into one immersive experience. Admission to all screenings is free with the purchase of a food and beverage voucher, redeemable at each show.
The curated lineup reflects the franchise’s defining obsessions — isolation, paranoia, containment failure, and the irreversible consequences of human experimentation — through four modern horror staples:
The Thing (1982), directed by John Carpenter
The Ring (2002), directed by Gore Verbinski
The Cabin in the Woods (2012), directed by Drew Goddard
Longlegs (2024), directed by Osgood Perkins
Each screening is paired with a limited-time, Resident Evil–inspired menu created exclusively for RACCOON CITY CINEMA. Highlights include:
Jill’s Sandwich, a nod to one of the franchise’s most infamous lines, featuring double beef patties, bacon, cheese, and house sauce

Red + Green Herb Hot Dog Combo, topped with chimichurri, chorizo, and avocado

Bingo! Fried Chicken, inspired by Leon S. Kennedy, tossed in a red chile spice blend and finished with thyme-hot honey

T-Virus Cocktail, a gin-based drink with blackberry and lime

Blue Umbrella Serum, a vodka cocktail referencing Umbrella’s post-Raccoon City operations

The event serves as both a retrospective and a bridge to the future of the franchise. Originally released in 1996 on PlayStation®, Resident Evil has sold more than 170 million copies worldwide as of March 2025 and remains one of the most influential survival horror series ever created.

Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry, returns players to Raccoon City with a dual-protagonist experience featuring FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and series icon Leon S. Kennedy. The game promises an emotionally driven narrative that blends psychological tension with action-forward survival horror.
RACCOON CITY CINEMA offers fans a chance to revisit genre classics through the lens of one of gaming’s most enduring horror worlds — just in time to step back into the city where it all began.
Tickets and reservations are available now through Alamo Drafthouse locations hosting the series.
