GODZILLA STOMPS INTO THE SILICON VALLEY: ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE TEAMS WITH TOHO FOR KAIJU-SIZED CELEBRATION
Santa Clara’s new Valley Fair location launches the world’s first Godzilla-themed movie theater — with national programming, merch drops, and a monster’s birthday party coming soon.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Toho International have just activated a seismic new partnership that will shake the pillars of kaiju fandom — starting with the launch of the world’s first Godzilla-themed movie theater. That’s right, monster lovers: Alamo Drafthouse Valley Fair, opening today inside Santa Clara’s Westfield Valley Fair mall, kicks off a multi-year collaboration celebrating all things GODZILLA.
Decked out with a two-story Godzilla projection and jaw-dropping lobby displays featuring colossal kaiju heads of Godzilla and Mechagodzilla, this new theater doesn’t just screen monster movies — it becomes one. Upstairs, the Bar Odo pays homage to Godzilla’s fictional birthplace with themed cocktails and a rotating craft beer lineup. And that’s just the beginning.
“From the moment GODZILLA rumbled onto screens in 1954, Toho’s kaiju have inspired generations of movie lovers,” says Alamo Drafthouse CMO Chaya Rosenthal. “This partnership lets us celebrate that legacy with epic screenings, jaw-dropping lobby displays, and one-of-a-kind collectibles.”

Starting this July, Valley Fair will host weekly screenings of iconic kaiju titles:
DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968) – Week of 7/5
A multi-monster melee with all your Toho faves — Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and more.
GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH (1971) – Week of 7/12
The original eco-horror trip. Groovy, grimy, and weird as hell.
MOTHRA (1961) – Week of 7/26
Lush technicolor beauty and fairy-powered kaiju magic.
Expect this programming to expand to Alamo locations nationwide — plus even more monster madness on the way later this fall.
Alamo Drafthouse and Toho’s team-up also extends to the collector crowd, with a wave of exclusive Godzilla merch hitting both theaters and AlamoMart.com:
Available now:
Limited-edition Godzilla pint glass
Official Godzilla T-shirt by Tom Whalen
Coming soon:
First-ever official Godzilla popcorn bucket

The real roar hits in November, when Alamo Drafthouse and Toho throw a nationwide birthday bash for the King of the Monsters on Godzilla Day (November 3). Expect exclusive screenings, surprise merch drops, and once-in-a-lifetime events — details coming soon.
This marks another notch in Alamo’s love affair with genre fandom, and it’s the kind of theatrical experience that lives up to the legacy of GOJIRA. Whether you’re new to kaiju or a lifelong fan of the thunder-lizard, this collaboration is about to deliver something massive.
