‘Apocalypse Z: Part II’ Brings the Infected to the Canary Islands Ahead of Prime Video Premiere
The fight for survival continues in Apocalypse Z: Part II, the second installment in the Spanish post-apocalyptic franchise based on the novels by Manel Loureiro.
Locally titled Apocalipsis Z: Nuevo Mundo, the sequel will make its U.S. premiere at Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles on Oct. 13 before arriving globally on Prime Video on Oct. 30.
Carles Torrens directs from a screenplay by Ángel Agudo, continuing the story into a world where the TSJ virus has devastated much of Europe and transformed the Canary Islands into one of the continent’s final refuges.
This time, the story follows a special mission leaving the relative safety of the islands and returning to the mainland in search of vital supplies.
Roberto joins the expedition, although his reasons for accompanying the group may not entirely align with those around him. What begins as a dangerous supply mission quickly becomes another fight for survival as the team encounters hordes of infected while tensions and divided loyalties develop within the group itself.
Those competing interests place the survivors between threats on both sides. The infected remain an immediate physical danger, but the mission also forces its characters to determine how much they are willing to risk for one another when self-preservation may offer the easier path.
At the center of Apocalypse Z: Part II is a familiar post-apocalyptic question: When civilization has already collapsed, is survival itself enough, or does preserving humanity require something more?
The sequel stars Carlos Alcaide (Killer Book Club), Julia Martínez (Subsuelo), Jose María Yazpik (Narcos), Berta Vázquez (Vis a Vis) and Mónica López (Rapa).
Torrens takes over directing duties for the new installment, while Agudo returns to the world created by Loureiro. Núria Valls and Adrián Guerra produce.
The sequel expands a franchise that combines infected horror with the human conflicts that emerge after society begins to collapse. Moving the action between the Canary Islands and mainland Europe gives the second installment an opportunity to broaden that world while placing another group of survivors outside the security of their remaining refuge.
Before its streaming debut, horror audiences in Los Angeles will get the first U.S. look at the film as part of Screamfest’s 2026 lineup.
Apocalypse Z: Part II makes its U.S. premiere at Screamfest Horror Film Festival on Oct. 13 and begins streaming on Prime Video Oct. 30.
