ARROW Unleashes May Mayhem with Steppenwolf, The Birthday, and Cult Classics Galore

A bloody scene from Steppenwolf alongside Corey Feldman in The Birthday 4K re-release.
ARROW’s May lineup brings bloody road trips, cursed birthdays, and cult chaos to your screen.

This May, ARROW proves once again that their SVOD platform isn’t just for collectors and completists—it’s for the genre-obsessed, the cinephile-curious, and those who crave movies that play fast, dirty, and strange. The streamer’s latest lineup is a blistering mix of cult madness, edgy debuts, and long-lost gems restored for the chaos-loving masses.

Headlining the month is Steppenwolf, a brutal Kazakh thriller from director Adilkhan Yerzhanov (The Gentle Indifference of the World). Think Children of Men meets Mad Max, but bleaker. This gritty, blood-soaked journey into a riot-torn hellscape introduces Tamara (Anna Starchenko), a mother on a warpath alongside a savage ex-cop. The film took home Fantasia’s Outstanding Performance Award and the top prize at BIFFF, and it drops exclusively on ARROW May 26.

And for those craving birthday cake with a side of cult mayhem, ARROW has cooked up a surprise. On May 21, The Birthday—a long-buried Corey Feldman fever dream—gets a 4K restoration. Imagine Eyes Wide Shut filtered through a Lynchian lens with Feldman caught in a doomsday birthday bash. Fans of Jordan Peele and Jason Blum already call it a lost gem. Now it’s finally yours to watch—probably after midnight, preferably with friends.

Starting May 2, ARROW’s Not For Everyone season lives up to the name. The unapologetically sleazy and controversial lineup includes I Spit on Your Grave, Tomie, and Castle Freak. That same day, Porno (2019) returns to melt eyeballs with its succubus sex-ed satire, and Vice Academy (and its five sequels) kicks off a nostalgia trip for fans of cheeky ’90s late-night cable chaos.

The action doesn’t stop there:

  • May 9 brings cult-favorite Cube (1997), still one of the sharpest, bloodiest puzzle boxes ever built.

  • May 16 unleashes Paul Davis Selects, a handpicked cinematic mixtape from the An American Werewolf in London documentarian himself.

  • And May 19 resurrects DIY demon mayhem with The Demon’s Rook, equal parts metal album cover and backyard fever dream.

Whether you’re tuning in for trans-dimensional birthday parties, sex demon rampages, or nihilistic road trips soaked in violence, ARROW’s May 2025 lineup dares you to dive deep—and promises you’ll come back changed.
