Aussie Slasher "Bad Girl Boogey" on demand and more this July

Fresh from the festival circuit including Chatt Film Fest comes the latest Aussie thriller from then-17-year-old filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay, BAD GIRL BOOGEY. It was written by Alice when they were only a teenager and has blown away audiences at festivals and screening engagements this year. We got a chance to see the film at Chatt so look for our review later this week. Dark Sky already put up the distribution for the film so check out all their release details and more below.

Dark Star Pictures will release Alice Maio Mackay’s acclaimed slasher film BAD GIRL BOOGEY this summer.

The film, which received a positive reception at its premiere at Popcorn Frights Film Festival followed by a healthy festival run including Monster Fest and Salem Horror Film Festival,

will release on digital platforms July 4 and DVD release on July 11. Select theaters will also screen the film from July 7.

BAD GIRL BOOGEY follows Angel whose mother was brutally murdered one Halloween night, when blood was shed by a deranged killer wearing a parasitic mask cursed with black magic and bigotry. Sixteen years later, when Angel’s best friend is slaughtered by a killer with the same mask, they must overcome their personal struggles, fight their fear, and find the masked killer before he, or it, slaughters everyone they hold dear.

Directed, Produced, and Co-Written with Ben Pahl Robinson – by then seventeen-year-old transexual filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay, BAD GIRL BOOGEY ushers in an inclusive slasher film proudly representing the queer community and loudly announces an exciting new directorial voice. The cast includes Lisa Fanto (‘Love, Guns & Level Ups’), Iris Mcerlean, Chris Asimos, Toshiro Glenn, Lewi Dawson, and Kate Bonney with a featured voiceover cameo from horror icon Bill Mosley (‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2’, ‘The Devil’s Rejects’).
