Trailer & Poster Debut for 4K Restoration of Before the Fall, Arriving December 12

4K restoration poster for the apocalyptic thriller Before the Fall (3 DÍAS).
The apocalyptic thriller Before the Fall returns in a newly restored 4K edition this December.

Chroma has released the trailer and poster for the 4K restoration of Before the Fall (3 DÍAS), the apocalyptic thriller from Spanish filmmaker F. Javier Gutiérrez, set to arrive on digital platforms December 12, 2025. The newly restored version will be available to rent or purchase on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.

Originally premiering at the Berlinale in 2008, Before the Fall has since grown into a cult favorite and is widely regarded as a key early entry in modern Spanish genre cinema. The film also caught the attention of the late Wes Craven, who had intended to develop an American remake before his passing.

Executive producer Antonio Banderas praised the film’s scope and ambition, noting that its limited resources never diminished its bold science-fiction vision. The new 4K restoration brings renewed clarity to the film’s sun-scorched visuals and grounded, character-driven approach to the apocalypse.

The digital release follows a successful festival run for the restoration, including a sold-out world premiere at Fantastic Fest’s 20th anniversary, a West Coast screening at Screamfest LA, and an international premiere at the Seville European Film Festival.

Written and directed by Gutiérrez, Before the Fall is set against the final 72 hours before a catastrophic meteorite impact. As society collapses and panic spreads, Ale initially plans to spend his final days drinking and listening to records, until the arrival of a mysterious stranger forces him into a far more immediate and dangerous situation. What begins as a fatalistic countdown evolves into a tense thriller as Ale attempts to protect his mother and his brother’s children, confronting who he is willing to become at the end of the world.

Gutiérrez has described the film as a deeply personal story of redemption, one that explores the fragile nature of humanity when order disappears. He noted that the restoration finally allows audiences to experience the film as originally intended, describing it as an apocalyptic nightmare that feels both mythic and grounded in reality.

Chroma VP Ahbra Perry added that the film feels even more urgent today than at the time of its original release, emphasizing that the restoration not only preserves an important genre work but amplifies its emotional impact.

Before the Fall will be available in its restored 4K edition beginning December 12 on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home.
