Austin Butler, Darren Aronofsky, and Matthew McConaughey Bring Caught Stealing to Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar
Austin Butler made his way to Austin, Texas, for a special screening of the wild new action-thriller Caught Stealing. The event, held at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, was part of a nationwide celebration of the film in partnership with Sony Pictures and Alamo Drafthouse.
The night kicked off with a surprise appearance by Texas icon Matthew McConaughey, who took the stage to introduce the movie to a packed house. Joining Butler was acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, who directed the crime caper adapted from Charlie Huston’s novel.
The Austin screening served as the central hub for simultaneous showings at 10 additional Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country. After the film, audiences were treated to a livestreamed Q&A with Butler and Aronofsky, moderated by Madeline Hollern.
About the Film
In Caught Stealing, Butler plays Hank Thompson, a former high-school baseball star turned New York bartender whose life takes a dangerous turn when his neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) asks him to watch his cat. Soon, Hank is caught in a deadly game with a crew of gangsters—none of whom will tell him why they’re after him. As the danger escalates, Hank must rely on quick thinking, grit, and pure hustle to survive.
The R-rated film features a stacked cast including Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito Martínez Ocasio, and Carol Kane.
