BOWELS OF HELL Unleashes a Grotesque, Transgressive Teaser Ahead of IFFR 2026 World Premiere

Teaser image from the transgressive horror film BOWELS OF HELL.
Killer toilets, domestic dread, and unflinching absurdity collide in BOWELS OF HELL.

If you’ve ever thought the bathroom was the last place horror could truly violate you — BOWELS OF HELL is here to prove you very, very wrong.

Blending splatter-soaked excess, pitch-black humor, and confrontational, transgressive horror, BOWELS OF HELL turns the most intimate room in the house into a nightmare engine. Killer toilets aren’t just the gag — they’re the metaphor. Domestic betrayal, generational trauma, grief, and repression all come bubbling up through sewage, slime, and unflinching absurdity.

Set to world premiere at the 2026 International Film Festival Rotterdam on Wednesday, February 4, the film arrives as part of the Harbour section and already signals itself as one of the festival’s most boundary-pushing genre entries. With worldwide sales (excluding Brazil) now boarded by Blue Finch Films, BOWELS OF HELL is also heading straight into EFM 2026 with serious underground buzz behind it.

Directed by Gustavo Vinagre and Gurcius Gewdner, the film follows Malu — a mother cracking under unresolved trauma and a fractured relationship with her rebellious child — as a surreal curse transforms toilets into grotesque monsters. What starts as bodily horror quickly mutates into something more intimate and cruel: a reckoning with motherhood, control, and grief that refuses to stay buried.

The teaser alone is drenched in carnage, chaos, and an unapologetically liquid sense of horror — a quick, nasty glimpse at a film that clearly has no interest in restraint.

Heads up:

We’ll be dropping our exclusive interview with the cast and crew this weekend, followed shortly by our full HMU review after the Rotterdam premiere. Trust us — this is not one you want to flush past your radar.

Stay disgusting. Stay curious. And keep an eye on BOWELS OF HELL.
