Paramount is moving forward with a long-awaited World War Z sequel, with Brad Pitt set to return and Edward Berger attached to direct.

Variety reports that Berger, whose recent credits include Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front, will direct from a screenplay by Dennis Kelly. Pitt will also produce alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner through Plan B, with Berger serving as an executive producer.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps. The project marks another collaboration between Pitt and Berger after the pair worked together on A24's The Riders.

The original World War Z, released in 2013 and directed by Marc Forster, starred Pitt as former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane and earned more than $540 million worldwide.

No release date has been announced yet. Horror Movies Uncut will continue tracking the sequel as Paramount reveals more.
