It’s Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Pure Mayhem in Ilya Naishuller’s Explosive Action-Comedy Heads of State
The world might not be ready for this kind of leadership.
From Hardcore Henry and Nobody director Ilya Naishuller comes Heads of State, a high-octane, globe-trotting action-comedy starring Idris Elba and John Cena as political frenemies forced into the ultimate team-up. Amazon will launch the film globally on Prime Video July 2, 2025, setting it squarely in the heart of summer blockbuster season.
In Heads of State, UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (Cena) have turned their diplomatic rivalry into headline fodder. But when a deadly foreign adversary emerges—one too dangerous for their elite security teams to handle—the two leaders are left with only one option: trust each other. Reluctantly. Maybe.
Their uneasy alliance gains backup from sharp MI6 agent Noel Bisset, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who joins them in a mad dash to stop a global conspiracy threatening to destabilize the free world.
The film also stars Jack Quaid, Carla Gugino, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, and Richard Coyle.
With creative stunts, sharp banter, and the chaotic energy of ‘90s buddy-action classics, Heads of State is pure adrenaline, packed with nostalgia and comedic carnage. It’s also the long-awaited reunion of Cena and Elba since The Suicide Squad—only this time, they might be on the same side.
Watch the chaos unfold when Heads of State premieres July 2 on Prime Video.
