So many people are familiar with the "Satanic Panic" but may not know where it stems from. One such item that can lay claim to its existence is the book MICHELLE REMEMBERS. Those that can recall this Victoria BC story undoubtedly will see the connection between the panic and the wild story of Michelle Miller and her therapist Lawerence Pazder. Michelle claimed to have been kidnapped at a young age by a "Satanist". Through a strong but very strange union between her and Pazder, they conducted a story that took the world by storm. Even in 2023 many still believe there are cults hiding in the shadows ready to devour our minds bodies and souls. Steve J. Adams and Sean Horlor create the perfect documentary showing the often hilarious but disheartening actions that our country and others took to post the Satanic Panic.
The documentary really digs into who Michelle and Dr. Padzer were and their relationships all around. Is it possible that the war between good and evil is a cover-up for forbidden love? These questions and so many more were asked by those involved and to hear their stories come to life is mind-blowing.
I first heard of MICHELLE REMEMBERS fumbling through my mom's book collection as a child. I had no idea at that time that this book had already made such a huge impact. Sure there are plenty of things such as heavy metal, Anton Lavey, and all that have been addressed as dealing with the panic. No mention of the West Memphis Three which was strange but also quite refreshing. As long as there is light and darkness people will be afraid of the the devil. SATAN WANTS YOU to know this and does a brilliant job showing you the ridiculous extent that so many have gone. This film is for your grandmother, her church group, and everyone else with bible fans. This lifestyle consumed so many of them for years.
SATAN WANTS YOU was fucking incredible! Better than expected for sure and possibly one of my favorite documentaries in the last few years. This story could not have happened in a better time period. Even though there are still problems humanity accepted the differences of others damn it's a blast to make fun of them. Make sure you don't miss this documentary!
