Christopher Landon Set to Direct Supernatural Horror Film Final Boarding for Screen Gems

A new supernatural horror project is preparing for takeoff as filmmaker Christopher Landon has officially signed on to write and direct Final Boarding for Screen Gems. The film is based on a short story by author Clarence Hammond, with the screenplay drawing from both the original story and a previous adaptation by Javier Gullón.

As with many projects early in development, plot details for Final Boarding are currently being kept tightly under wraps, but the project is already generating buzz given Landon’s proven track record in the horror genre.

Landon has become one of the most recognizable voices in modern studio horror. His most recent film, Drop, earned critical acclaim after its release last year. The film starred Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar and was produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes for Universal Pictures.

In addition to Final Boarding, Landon has several other projects currently in development. He recently reunited with collaborators Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs for the Netflix thriller Blink of an Eye, which he will direct and produce alongside producers from Platinum Dunes including Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller.

Fans of Landon’s work already know him as the filmmaker behind the genre-bending hits Happy Death Day and Freaky, as well as a key creative force within the Paranormal Activity franchise during his time working alongside Ashley Brucks, now President of Screen Gems.

Most recently, Landon also co-wrote and produced the horror comedy Heart Eyes for Screen Gems.

While story details remain a mystery, Landon’s involvement alone signals that Final Boarding could be another inventive addition to the modern horror landscape. With his history of blending scares, humor, and high-concept storytelling, horror fans will undoubtedly be watching closely as more details about the project begin to emerge.
