A new creature-feature nightmare is on the way as Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have acquired U.S. rights to Crawlers, a high-intensity horror-thriller centered on a deadly spider infestation. The film is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.

Directed by Angel Gómez Hernández and starring Matilda Lutz, Crawlers unfolds inside a quarantined apartment complex where what begins as a mysterious death quickly escalates into a full-scale infestation of venomous spiders.

Lutz plays Serena, the overworked manager of the Paradiso Palms building, who finds herself at the center of the crisis. As residents become trapped with no escape, survival hinges on her knowledge of the building—and her ability to confront a deeply rooted fear.

The screenplay comes from Jayson Rothwell, and the film marks the first feature from Badlands, a new genre label backed by Thunder Road Pictures and producer Scott Strauss. The label brings together talent behind major action and genre franchises, including John Wick and Sicario, signaling a push into high-concept horror with commercial appeal.

Early reactions from the acquisition partners emphasize the film’s relentless pacing and visceral tension, positioning Crawlers as a tightly contained survival thriller designed to maximize claustrophobia and fear.

With its blend of creature horror, quarantine tension, and character-driven stakes, Crawlers joins a growing wave of modern creature features that lean into practical fears and contained environments to deliver high-impact genre storytelling.
