Dark Sky Films Sets Supernatural Horror ‘Human’ for October Theatrical and Digital Release

Dark Sky Films will release Matt Stuertz’s supernatural horror film Human in select theaters and across VOD and digital platforms on Oct. 23.
Written and directed by Stuertz, whose previous credits include Tonight She Comes and RWD, the film arrives following festival screenings at FrightFest and Obscura Film Fest.
Jackie Kelly stars as Dani Ferris, an exhausted woman spending the night alone away from home. What begins with Dani looking for some late-night entertainment online develops into a violent supernatural situation that keeps escalating around her.
The film unfolds primarily across a single night, placing Dani at the center of a story involving shifting relationships, unexpected visitors and increasingly dangerous circumstances. Dark Sky’s synopsis teases a combination of friends, lovers, enemies, weapons and supernatural threats as Dani attempts to make it through the night.
Kelly’s previous credits include Hag, In Memory Of and Oscar Tango Hellwater. She is joined by Brock Russell (Tonight She Comes, Revisions), Cecily Dowd (Black Card Teaser, Miss Valentine), Jeffrey Decker (Relentless, Mischief Beyond Mischief) and Mia Sydney (Ink of Ages, Mendocino).
Stuertz also serves as a producer on the film alongside David Christopher Pitt.
Human continues Stuertz’s work in independent genre filmmaking following Tonight She Comes, his 2016 horror feature about a group of people confronted by a supernatural presence after a woman goes missing, and RWD, the found-footage horror film he co-directed with Adam Hartley.
For his latest feature, Stuertz shifts the focus toward a contained, single-night scenario built around Dani’s increasingly unpredictable circumstances. Dark Sky Films describes the movie as combining supernatural horror with relationship conflicts and graphic violence as the situation surrounding its central character deteriorates.
The film has already made stops on the genre festival circuit ahead of its wider release, including appearances at FrightFest and Obscura Film Fest.
