ET TU: Lou Diamond Phillips & Malcolm McDowell Bring Bloodshed to the Stage July 25

Lou Diamond Phillips holds a knife on a dimly lit stage in horror film ET TU.
Lou Diamond Phillips spirals into theatrical madness in the blood-soaked horror-thriller ET TU, arriving July 25.

In ET TU, that’s not just a thought—it’s a bloody game plan. The debut trailer for this sharp-edged horror-thriller just dropped, and it’s giving us unhinged Phantom of the Opera meets Titus Andronicus by way of grindhouse fever dream. The film, starring Lou Diamond Phillips and the ever-menacing Malcolm McDowell, is set to hit all digital platforms July 25 via Buffalo 8.

The story follows Brent, a struggling playwright-turned-director forced to endure night after night of his own creative failure: a production so bad it’s driving him to madness. But the worst part? He’s convinced his wife is sleeping with the play’s talentless leading man. That’s when the janitor (McDowell, oozing menace) steps in with a blood-stained proposition. Want the pain to stop? All Brent has to do is make a mess of his own—and mop up the consequences.

The trailer is an absolute stab-fest. Crimson curtains. Greco-Roman tragedy. Blood-soaked stages and backstage betrayals. Think Amadeus meets Sleepaway Camp with all the theatrical flair of Shakespeare turned psycho. Lou Diamond Phillips leans into the madness with veteran ferocity, while McDowell delivers the kind of sinister side-eye only he can sell with a mop and monologue.

There’s something deeply fun and violently cathartic about the world ET TU builds—where jealous rage becomes performance art and backstage grudges spill literal guts. It’s campy. It’s nasty. And it plays like a drunken soliloquy you’ll never forget.

Early reviews are already praising the film’s dark humor, stagecraft gore, and bold lead performances. And if the trailer’s any indication, this is a film that knows exactly what it is—mean, theatrical, and absolutely out for blood.

ET TU hits digital platforms to rent or buy on July 25.
