Hellcat Trailer Unleashes a Claustrophobic Nightmare Ahead of Its Shudder Premiere This August

Shudder has unveiled the first trailer and poster for Hellcat, an unsettling psychological horror thriller from writer-director Brock Bodell that blends body horror, paranoia, and mounting dread into a race against time.

Set to premiere exclusively on Shudder on August 14, the film stars Dakota Gorman as Lena, a young woman who awakens inside a moving camper trailer with no memory of how she got there and a horrifying wound that may be transforming her into something far worse.

The newly released trailer teases a tense, confined nightmare as Lena learns from the mysterious driver transporting her that they have only one hour to reach a doctor before she succumbs to an unimaginable fate. As her condition worsens and reality begins to fracture around her, Lena is forced to question everything she sees, hears, and remembers.

What begins as a desperate fight for survival quickly evolves into a disturbing psychological descent where the greatest threat may not be the infection spreading through her body, but the truth behind her captivity.

Dakota Gorman leads the cast alongside Todd Terry, James Austin Johnson, Liz Atwater, Jordan Mullins, Elise Gilbert, and Janey Ivey.

Written and directed by Brock Bodell, Hellcat generated early buzz during its festival run, including a screening at Fantasia International Film Festival, where audiences were introduced to its blend of isolation horror, escalating tension, and increasingly surreal twists.

The trailer leans heavily into uncertainty, withholding many of the film’s larger revelations while showcasing the growing panic surrounding Lena’s deteriorating condition. The result is a suspense-driven preview that suggests Hellcat is less interested in traditional jump scares and more focused on psychological unraveling and existential terror.

With its confined setting, ticking-clock premise, and mysterious infection at the center of the story, Hellcat looks poised to deliver one of Shudder’s most intriguing genre releases of the summer.

Hellcat premieres exclusively on Shudder on August 14.
