Day 2 Recap of Hysteria Fest at Arkadin Cinema
The second day of Hysteria Fest at Arkadin Cinema went off without a hitch. The day's programming featured some fantastic local shorts, with a few words from the filmmakers in attendance. The evening highlights included a showing of the silent horror cult classic "Haxan" on the inside screen and Chris Grega's "Red Night At Skye's" (look for our review later) on the back lot patio. There was a local metal band playing at the bar next door, but thankfully, the noise wasn't too much of an issue. Lily and I even checked the bar a few times to ensure neither section was being disturbed.
The back patio kicked off a happy hour for the filmmakers to meet and greet. Meanwhile, inside, attendees had the pleasure of meeting filmmaker Hunter Johnson and the star of his new film "Terra Bella," Devanny Pinn. It was a treat to finally meet Devanny, a longtime supporter of HMU, as we have been with her films both in front of and behind the screen. We're eagerly anticipating "Terra Bella" this evening because Lily and I will be recording the next episode of the Submissions & Slashers Podcast, recapping Hysteria Fest thus far, and discussing a few things out of Chattanooga and more.
Day 3 will feature a 1 PM showing of "Terra Bella," along with "The Gore & The Melody" shorts block, "SORRY WE'RE DEAD," "The Demons and The Deceptions" shorts block, "YOUNG BLONDES, STALKED AND MURDERED," and "DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS."
We also know the filmmaker behind "Ghost Game" will be arriving in St. Louis for her Sunday screening, so make sure to meet and greet all the filmmakers when you see them.
