Johnny’s not done.
Today, IGN — in collaboration with IFC and Shudder — gave horror fans their first teaser glimpse at In a Violent Nature 2, and if you thought the first film pushed patience and brutality into uncomfortable territory, the sequel looks ready to lean fully into summer camp carnage.
FanFest 2026 attendees got the early look, and now the rest of us are seeing what’s coming: woods, counselors, isolated cabins — and that unmistakable slow, deliberate walk of death.
The official premise keeps it simple. Johnny, the vengeful undead killer awakened by a stolen locket, returns — this time heading straight toward a summer camp. There, he crosses paths with a young outcast camper spending the night with his sister and her friends. Survival becomes the only objective.
If the original In a Violent Nature functioned as a meditative, almost voyeuristic spin on the slasher formula, the teaser suggests the sequel may lean harder into the genre’s most recognizable playground. Think less hiking trail dread and more full-blown Friday the 13th energy — cabins, lakes, and bodies waiting to be discovered.
And yes, Ry Barrett is back as Johnny.
After speaking with him during the press run for the first film, it’s clear this character means something. Johnny isn’t just another masked killer. He’s become a modern experiment in slasher storytelling — stripping the genre down to perspective and brutality. The infamous yoga kill from the first film became instant horror discourse fuel, and if this teaser is any indication, the sequel is ready to escalate.
Joining Barrett are Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven, and additional ensemble players who look poised to become Johnny’s next obstacles — or casualties.
The teaser doesn’t give everything away. There’s a taste of carnage, a hint of what’s coming, but it holds back enough to make you wonder how far they’ll actually go this time. And if the first film taught us anything, it’s that restraint early on usually leads to excess later.
The film is currently slated for a summer theatrical release, though an exact date is still forthcoming. With FanFest 2026 currently underway, expect more official updates — including a full trailer — very soon.
The locket is stolen.
Johnny is awake.
And summer camp just got very, very quiet.
