‘In a Violent Nature: Part 2’ Sets February 2027 Theatrical Release as Johnny Heads to Summer Camp

Johnny is taking his methodical brand of slasher brutality to summer camp.
Independent Film Company and Shudder have set In a Violent Nature: Part 2 for an exclusive theatrical release on Feb. 12, 2027, bringing the masked killer back to theaters for the follow-up to 2024’s In a Violent Nature.
The release date was revealed as a surprise during Shudder’s panel at New York Comic Con, with Ry Barrett — who reprises his role as Johnny — sharing the news. The announcement follows the sequel’s world premiere at Fantastic Fest, where audiences received their first look at the franchise’s next chapter.
This time, Johnny’s continuing rampage takes him to a summer camp, putting the series squarely inside one of the slasher genre’s most familiar hunting grounds.
According to the official synopsis, Johnny arrives as a young outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counselor sister and her friends during their annual end-of-season party. What begins as a relatively familiar camp-slasher setup becomes the next stage of Johnny’s killing spree.

The sequel picks up immediately following the events of the first film while expanding the mythology surrounding its seemingly unstoppable killer. Independent Film Company and Shudder are also promising an escalation of the extreme kills that helped distinguish the original from the crowded modern slasher landscape.
In a Violent Nature approached familiar genre material from an unusual perspective, spending much of its running time following Johnny rather than his potential victims. The result combined long stretches of deliberately paced wilderness filmmaking with sudden eruptions of graphic violence, turning the killer’s movement through the forest into the organizing principle of the film.
Its practical gore and elaborate kills became another major part of the conversation surrounding the release, while Johnny emerged as a new masked presence in contemporary slasher cinema.
Part 2 now has the opportunity to test how flexible that formula can be.
Moving the action to a summer camp gives the filmmakers access to the visual language of decades of slasher movies while creating an obvious challenge: preserving the perspective and pacing that separated In a Violent Nature from the films that inspired it.
The sequel also marks a creative expansion behind the camera. Nate Wilson and returning filmmaker Chris Nash co-direct In a Violent Nature: Part 2, with Nash also writing the screenplay.
Nash wrote and directed the first film, which introduced Johnny and established the franchise’s stripped-down approach to stalking and killing. Wilson previously served as an editor on the original.
Peter Kuplowsky, Shannon Hanmer and Nash produce the sequel.
For horror audiences, the February release places Johnny’s return just ahead of Valentine’s Day, giving moviegoers a considerably bloodier alternative to the traditional holiday date-night release.
More importantly, Part 2 will determine whether one of the more distinctive slasher experiments of recent years can successfully evolve into an ongoing franchise without losing the unconventional approach that made its first chapter stand out.
Johnny already survived the woods.
On Feb. 12, 2027, summer camp is next.
In a Violent Nature: Part 2 will open exclusively in theaters through Independent Film Company and Shudder.
