Chaos, Romance & Culture Shock Collide in ‘I Don’t Understand You’ — Now on Digital
If you’ve ever seen a couple unravel in real time during what was supposed to be a romantic getaway, then I Don’t Understand You is your new must-watch digital detour. Now available on Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and Prime Video, this dark comedy starring Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells is exactly what happens when the babymoon goes completely sideways.
Dom (Nick Kroll) and Cole (Andrew Rannells) are two soon-to-be dads taking one last blissful European escape before their new family begins. But what starts as scenic escapism quickly turns into a high-strung panic spiral. After getting lost en route to dinner in the Italian countryside, their car ends up in a ditch, the storm rolls in, and suddenly there’s no phone service, no language fluency, and zero survival skills between them.
From passive-aggressive bickering to full-blown relationship meltdowns, I Don’t Understand You thrives in its escalating absurdity. It’s The Trip meets Force Majeure but filtered through the neurotic lens of two Americans very much out of their comfort zone. The laughs come fast and uncomfortable, and both Kroll and Rannells play off each other with chaotic chemistry.
The film hits a nerve for anyone who’s ever been over-reliant on Google Translate, GPS, or their partner’s emotional bandwidth. And while it’s a comedy, don’t be surprised if you end up thinking deeply about how much of your life—and relationship—is dependent on control and convenience.
