FRENCH KISS TAKES OVER LUCCA: A GLOBAL POP CULTURE FÊTE RETURNS
Lucca Comics & Games 2025 Celebrates France, Fandom, and Fantastical Kisses
Lucca Comics & Games, the crown jewel of European pop culture, is back from October 29 to November 2 with its most expansive and emotionally charged edition to date. This year’s theme, “French Kiss”, serves as both tribute and narrative device—honoring France’s legacy across comics, games, animation, and storytelling, while exploring the transformative power of a kiss through iconic characters and dynamic experiences.
The newly revealed poster by French illustrator Rébecca Dautremer features six mythical characters—werewolf, warrior, vampire countess, monster, witch, and manga-styled Lukawa—frozen in moments of almost-intimacy. It sets the tone for a festival dripping with tension, connection, and narrative experimentation.
VIVE LA BANDE DESSINÉE
From Moebius to Florence Cestac, Lucca 2025 dives deep into French comic art with a curated exhibition HEXAGONES, alongside panels featuring legends like Éric Fouassier and Edmond Baudoin. Dautremer will also debut pages from her 2026 graphic novel Ruby Rose, a bold departure into theatrical design.
STREAMING GIANTS STOMP IN
Netflix drops into Lucca like a Demogorgon with a Halloween preview event for the Stranger Things final season, leading up to its epic rollout:
Vol. 1 (Nov 27), Vol. 2 (Dec 26), Final Episode (Jan 1, 2026).
Meanwhile, Crunchyroll, Cartoon Network, and Pokémon return with custom pavilions, immersive zones, and exclusive merch drops.
KOJIMA, TOYAMA, AND VAMPIRE SURVIVORS TAKE THE STAGE
Gaming is going global:
Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 makes its final World Strand Tour stop in Lucca.
Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama brings his haunting vision and new studio Bokeh.
Vampire Survivors dev Luca Galante joins the party with panels, demos, and sneak peeks.
THE ARTISTS WHO SHAPE US
Italian comic greats like Zerocalcare, Milo Manara, and Fumettibrutti return, while manga creators Tetsuo Hara, Kei Urana, and Hideyoshi Andou represent Japan’s pulse. Guy Delisle and Zuzu round out the transcontinental storytelling force.
LITERATURE, LIVE MUSIC & LEGO
From Percy Jackson’s Rick Riordan to Magisterium’s Cassandra Clare and Holly Black, fantasy lit takes a front-row seat. Music performances by Étienne de Crécy, Vision of Atlantis, and Nordic folk-metal band Eihwar turn Lucca’s streets into a concert hall. LEGO builds a 300m² creative space, while Red Bull Unforeseen turns Lucca into a life-sized Tetris board.
THE FINALE: A FESTIVAL FILM
Don’t miss I Love Lucca Comics & Games, the first cinematic tribute to the festival’s community and culture, premiering in Italian cinemas Nov 10–12 before streaming on IWONDERFULL via Amazon Prime.
Lucca 2025 is not just a con—it’s communion. A multi-day kiss to creativity, community, and everything that lives in the panels, pixels, and pages we love.
Tickets available now via early bird discount through July 25.
