Michelle Yeoh Joins the Legends at the Special LA Screening of Ne Zha II

Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh lit up Los Angeles on Monday, August 4th, attending the special screening of Ne Zha II, the English-language release of China’s highest-grossing animated film. The buzz was electric as Yeoh—still riding high from Everything Everywhere All At Once and her upcoming role in Wicked—stood proudly alongside fellow cast members and cultural icons in celebration of this epic fantasy tale.

Held in downtown LA, the event welcomed Ne Zha II voice cast members Crystal Lee (Genshin Impact), Vincent Rodriguez III (Raya and the Last Dragon), Aleks Le (Demon Slayer), and Damien Haas, who joined Yeoh for a night celebrating the collision of myth, magic, and high-octane action.

But this wasn’t just a film event—it was a cultural moment. Notable guests included Lisa Ling, Harry Shum Jr., Janet Yang, artist Rei Ami, rising star Ji-young Yoo, legendary filmmaker Guo Fan (The Wandering Earth series), Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun, and Chinese Consul of Los Angeles Peishu Wang. Their presence underscored Ne Zha II’s global significance and the importance of Asian representation in blockbuster animation.

A continuation of the legendary Chinese myth, Ne Zha II follows a rebellious young boy feared by the gods, born to mortal parents and imbued with uncontrollable powers. Now facing an ancient force bent on humanity’s destruction, Ne Zha must decide whether he’ll become the hero the world needs—or the chaos it fears. With dazzling visuals, emotionally-charged storytelling, and universal themes of destiny, identity, and redemption, Ne Zha II blends heart and spectacle with mythical flair.

Now fully voiced in English and heading to theaters across the country, Ne Zha II will arrive in 3D and IMAX nationwide on August 22nd. For fans of anime, mythic epics, and high-flying animation with purpose, this is one screening you won’t want to miss.
