Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Her Private Hell’ Arrives on Digital, 4K Release Set for November

Nicolas Winding Refn’s return to feature filmmaking is heading home, with NEON releasing Her Private Hell on Digital beginning August 25.

The film, Refn’s first feature in a decade, is now available to rent or own following its theatrical run and premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. A physical release will follow November 24 with a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo pack featuring additional bonus material.

Sophie Thatcher (Heretic, Yellowjackets) leads the film alongside Charles Melton (May December, Riverdale), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms) and Kristine Froseth (Oh, Canada, How to Blow Up a Pipeline).

Set within a futuristic metropolis, Her Private Hell follows a troubled young woman searching for her father after a mysterious mist engulfs the city and brings with it a deadly, elusive presence. Her journey eventually intersects with an American GI undertaking his own mission to rescue his daughter.

Refn directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Esti Giordani, based on a story by Refn. He also serves as a producer alongside Lene Børglum, Christina Erritzøe, Takuma Takasaki and Kimberly Willming.

The project marks Refn’s return to feature films following The Neon Demon, released in 2016. In the years between features, the filmmaker continued working in television and streaming, including the series Too Old to Die Young and Copenhagen Cowboy.

For Her Private Hell, Refn again places a heavy emphasis on visual composition and music. The score comes from Pino Donaggio, the composer behind films including Carrie and Don’t Look Now. The film’s Cannes premiere and subsequent theatrical release introduced audiences to Refn’s latest combination of psychological horror, science-fiction imagery and stylized genre filmmaking.

The November physical edition will expand on the film with several supplemental features. The 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray combo includes a behind-the-scenes music video, an interview with Refn, an interview with members of the cast, and the film’s teaser and theatrical trailer.

The physical release also gives viewers another option for experiencing a film built heavily around its cinematography, production design and score following its original theatrical presentation.

Her Private Hell is available now to rent or own on Digital platforms through NEON. The 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray combo arrives November 24.
