The Overlook Film Festival is back, bringing horror fans another year of spine-chilling cinema, immersive experiences, and unforgettable live events. Taking place April 3–6 in the haunted heart of New Orleans, the festival returns to the Prytania Theatres with a blood-soaked lineup of new and classic horror films, including the latest from genre legends and exciting new voices.
The festival kicks off with the Opening Night premiere of Drop, a nerve-wracking thriller from Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, directed by Christopher Landon. Following the screening, horror fans will celebrate at a Shudder-hosted bash marking the iconic streaming service’s 10th anniversary. This year’s Overlook lineup is stacked, featuring David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds, Babak Anvari’s Hallow Road, and Eli Craig’s Clown in a Cornfield, among many more.
Classic horror fans will also have plenty to feast on with anniversary screenings of Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight, Re-Animator, and The Phantom of the Opera, the latter accompanied by a live score. Flying Lotus, the festival’s inaugural Guest Curator, will also present a series of retro favorites, including The Descent, Death Becomes Her, Lost Highway, and his own sci-fi nightmare, Ash.
Beyond the screen, Overlook’s signature immersive programming returns, offering one-of-a-kind interactive horror experiences, including Spooky Tales with Cowboy Dale, The Severance Theory: Welcome to Respite, and The Manikins: A Work in Progress. Live events round out the madness, featuring a conversation with horror author Joe Hill and a performance from Everything Is Terrible!
With even more surprises still to be announced, Overlook 2025 is shaping up to be a must-attend event for horror lovers everywhere. Keep your eyes peeled for the full lineup, and prepare for four days of fear, fun, and frights in one of the most haunted cities in America!
