Portal to Hell cast & crew celebrate their sold-out world premiere at Slamdance 2025.
The cast of Portal to Hell walks the red carpet at Slamdance 2025 after a sold-out world premiere.

Slamdance 2025 is heating up, and one of the festival’s biggest hits so far is Portal to Hell, the offbeat horror comedy from filmmaker Woody Bess. Last night, the film made its world premiere to a sold-out crowd, and it’s already generated so much buzz that tonight’s screening is sold out as well.

Live from the red carpet, Travis caught up with the cast and crew to talk all things hellish, hilarious, and unexpected. We spoke with Romina D’Ugo, who plays Ed, the laundromat employee caught in the madness, as well as Trey Holland, the film’s reluctant hero Dunn, and of course, the legendary Richard Kind, who lends his unmistakable voice to Chip the Demon. Director Woody Bess also joined us to break down his manga-inspired vision, blending horror tropes with absurdist comedy.

With a wild concept, laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of surprises, Portal to Hell is quickly making a name for itself as one of the must-watch festival films of the year. We gave it a 3.5/5, so if you love horror comedies with big personalities and even bigger chaos, this is one to keep on your radar.

Check out our full review of Portal to Hell now, and stay tuned for more festival coverage from Slamdance 2025!
