Prime Video has released the first look at Playdate, a high-octane action-comedy that pairs suburban dad life with full-blown chaos. Starring Alan Ritchson (Reacher) and Kevin James (The King of Queens), the film premieres globally on November 12.
From director Luke Greenfield (Let’s Be Cops, The Girl Next Door), Playdate fuses muscle, mayhem, and dad jokes in one of the most unexpected comedy pairings of the year. The result is an action-packed, laugh-out-loud ride that turns a simple afternoon hangout into a fight for survival.
Synopsis: Recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) agrees to a playdate with charming, overly enthusiastic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson). What starts as a friendly day of small talk and football tossing spirals into a chaotic scramble to stay alive when the two are hunted by a team of mercenaries. With Brian bumbling through every obstacle and Jeff oddly equipped for every situation, the pair must navigate explosions, mistaken identities, and minivan chases in a movie that hilariously collides domestic routine with action-movie absurdity.
The cast also includes Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, Benjamin Pajak, Banks Pierce, Hiro Kanagawa, Stephen Root, and Isla Fisher.
Packed with outrageous set pieces, Playdate reimagines the buddy comedy for the streaming era—balancing heartfelt suburban humor with bullet-riddled pandemonium.
Playdate premieres exclusively on Prime Video November 12.
