Ryan Coogler’s ‘The X-Files’ Reboot Adds Steve Buscemi, Amy Madigan, Ben Foster and More
The cast for Hulu’s upcoming reboot of The X-Files continues to grow as the highly anticipated reimagining from Ryan Coogler has officially added several major names in guest starring roles.
New additions to the series include Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi, Ben Foster, Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand, and Sofia Grace Clifton.
The group joins previously announced leads Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler, who play two FBI agents assigned to a long-abandoned division investigating unexplained phenomena.
Ryan Coogler will write and direct the pilot episode while also serving as executive producer on the series, which is being produced through Onyx Collective and 20th Television. Original X-Files creator Chris Carter also returns as an executive producer.
Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler executive produce under the Proximity Media banner.
For horror audiences, several of the casting additions carry direct genre connections.
Amy Madigan recently appeared in Weapons, one of the breakout horror titles of the past year, and has also appeared in genre projects including Antlers and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
Steve Buscemi recently joined Season 2 of Wednesday and remains closely associated with projects like Boardwalk Empire and numerous cult genre films throughout his career.
Ben Foster continues adding darker dramatic material to his filmography following projects like Hell or High Water and the upcoming boxing drama Christy opposite Sydney Sweeney.
Meanwhile, Devery Jacobs remains a rising name across genre television after appearances in Reservation Dogs, Echo, and Netflix’s The Order.
Lochlyn Munro also brings direct horror franchise history into the reboot following roles in Freddy vs. Jason, Totally Killer, and the upcoming return of Scary Movie.
The reboot represents one of Hulu’s largest genre projects currently in development and marks the return of The X-Files franchise to television following the revival seasons that aired between 2016 and 2018.
At this time, an official premiere date for the new series has not yet been announced.
