The finale episode of season three of the hit Shudder Original series The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs premieres on Friday, June 18 with special guest, independent film trailblazer, director, producer and actor Roger Corman (The Little Shop of Horrors, The Masque of the Red Death). The episode premieres live on the Shudder TV feed at 9pm ET/8c. Fans can also watch on demand on Shudder and AMC+ on Sunday.
"Whenever anyone asks me anything about the origins of my interest in exploitation films, it all goes back to Roger Corman,” said Joe Bob Briggs. “Roger is the creator of the drive-in totals (although he doesn't know it). Roger set the standard for low-budget independent filmmaking that defined genres and inspired first-time filmmakers over eight decades. To this day, no living person has a body of work as large and diverse as Roger's at a level of quality that belies his obsession with low budgets. Whenever anyone asks me, "Is there anyone you've ever interviewed who intimidates you," my answer is always "Roger Corman comes close." I've interviewed him five or six times, talked to him informally many times, and he continues to amaze me with his intelligence and charm and deep appreciation of film. The only other person I've met who has his depth of film knowledge is Martin Scorsese, and Roger gave Martin Scorsese his first job."
On The Last Drive-In, Briggs, the world’s foremost drive-in movie critic hosts eclectic horror movie double features, expounding upon their merits, histories and significance to genre cinema. Shudder and Briggs first teamed up in July 2018, for the 24-hour marathon intended to be Briggs’ final farewell to televised movie hosting. Due to overwhelming popular demand, Shudder brought The Last Drive-In back as a weekly series and for multiple holiday specials.
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs is produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell and directed by Austin Jennings.
