Per Deadline, Sigourney Weaver may be gearing up for another major franchise run—this time trading Pandora for the world of Tomb Raider. While no deal has officially closed, Weaver is currently in talks to join Prime Video’s upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, which stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft and features Phoebe Waller-Bridge as writer and executive producer.

Prime Video declined to comment on the casting, and there’s no word yet on who Weaver would play. But if the deal goes through, it’s another powerhouse addition to a career defined by landmark genre roles, starting with Alien and stretching through decades of sci-fi and fantasy, including her return as Kiri in Avatar: Fire and Ash, opening later this month.

Production on the series is slated to begin January 19. Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shōgun, Dope Thief) will direct and serve as executive producer alongside Waller-Bridge and co-showrunner Chad Hodge. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Story Kitchen and Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the long-running Tomb Raider video game franchise.

The project brings together a stacked producing team: Crystal Dynamics; Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Productions; Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson for Story Kitchen; Michael Scheel; Chad Hodge; and Legendary Television.

For Weaver, this potential role adds to an already packed slate. In addition to Avatar: Fire and Ash, she appears next year in Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu and stars in Bryan Fuller’s Dust Bunny, releasing this weekend. Not many actors get to span Alien, Avatar, Star Wars, and Tomb Raider in one career—but if anyone can collect franchises like Infinity Stones, it’s Sigourney Weaver.

We’ll update as soon as casting is confirmed.
