Split Rock Sets 35mm Premieres at Sitges and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival
Writer-director Ryan Glover’s supernatural horror film Split Rock is heading to Sitges and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, with both premieres scheduled as 35mm presentations.
Clark Backo and Drew Ray Tanner star as geologists and lovers Lauren and Ben, who discover a mysterious magnetic stone while conducting survey work in remote badlands. As equipment begins to fail and an unseen force emerges, Lauren becomes convinced that an ancient consciousness is attempting to use her mind to reach the surface.
The cast also includes Olivia Luccardi and Graham Verchere. Toronto cinematographer Nikolay Michaylov shot the film on an ARRIFLEX 416 using Super 16mm Kodak film, with the finished film presented in a 2.66:1 aspect ratio.
Split Rock is scheduled to make its world premiere October 9 at the Sitges Film Festival’s Cinema Prado. Its North American premiere follows October 21 at 6:30 p.m.
at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg as part of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
The 98-minute Canadian production marks Glover’s follow-up to The Strings, which premiered at Salem Horror Fest in 2020 before eventually landing on Shudder.
