There’s no cult quite like celebrity, and Mark Anthony Green’s Opus explores its allure in all its splendor. The film follows a journalist who receives an invitation to a secluded retreat hosted by a former celebrity who has been missing for over 30 years.
The newly released trailer gives off strong Blink Twice vibes, a fitting tone for today’s wave of films exploring fanatics and cults. Opus boasts an impressive cast, including Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Stephanie Suganami, Young Mazino, and Tatanka Means.
This marks Green’s debut feature film, with A24 unveiling the official trailer today. Opus will make its world premiere at Sundance 2025 and hit theaters on March 14, 2025.
A young writer (Ayo Edebiri) is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star (John Malkovich) who mysteriously disappeared thirty years ago. Surrounded by the star's cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.
