By now, it’s clear that the universe—or rather, the Cineverse—has spoken. Teaming up with Screambox TV and Bloody Disgusting, they took a bold step that many wouldn’t by releasing Terrifier 3. Despite being overlooked by some studios as a simple gorefest focused on violence and splatter, creators Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone have always been clear: Terrifier is for fans who love the fun of carnage and gore. While some critics claim the films lack narrative, that’s a matter of perspective. The plot is straightforward—a killer clown named Art wreaks havoc. What more do you need?
Heading into the holiday season, Terrifier 3, produced by Dark Age Cinema and The Coven, has become the standout of the series, combining its signature outrageous gore with stellar performances by Lauren LaVera and David Howard Thornton as the now-iconic “Art the Clown.” On Monday, it was announced that Terrifier 3 reached #1 at the box office, grossing an impressive $21.4 million from 2,500 theaters in North America. This marks another independent feature dominating the box office, with Terrifier 3 being an unexpected success.
Fans are thrilled with the new direction of the story involving Sienna and Art, and anticipation for a fourth film is at an all-time high. Art, played by David Howard Thornton, has already become a cultural icon, breaking into video games and music videos, with comparisons to the rise of Freddy Krueger. With an astounding 89% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, Terrifier 3 continues its triumph.
Congrats to the entire Terrifier 3 team for their massive success!
