Shudder, the leading streaming service for horror and thriller content is gearing up for the release of "The Devil's Bath," the latest film from Austrian horror directors Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, known for "Goodnight Mommy" and "The Lodge." The film stars Anja Plaschg as Agnes, a woman caught in a cycle of domestic duties and societal pressures imposed by her husband. As Agnes grapples with her restricted existence, her inner turmoil escalates into disturbing thoughts and ultimately violent actions, pushing her to the edge.

"The Devil's Bath" made its world premiere at the Berlinale 2024, where it received acclaim for Martin Gschlacht's cinematography, earning a Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution. The film has also been nominated for eleven awards at the 2024 Austrian Film Awards, including Best Film. North American audiences will have their first opportunity to experience the film at the Tribeca Film Festival in early June.

The film's North American theatrical run kicks off at the IFC Center in New York on June 21st, followed by its debut on Shudder starting June 28th, 2024. Set in 1750 Austria, "The Devil's Bath" delves into the psychological torment of Agnes, portraying a haunting narrative inspired by historical court records that shed light on a lesser-known chapter of European history. This chilling exploration of a woman's descent into darkness promises to captivate audiences with its evocative storytelling and powerful performances.
