After bringing its masked killers back to the big screen, The Strangers: Chapter 2 is officially heading home this fall.
Lionsgate will release the second installment in director Renny Harlin’s The Strangers trilogy on 4K and Digital on October 13, giving audiences another opportunity to experience the latest confrontation between Maya and the franchise’s relentless trio of killers.
Horror Movies Uncut caught The Strangers: Chapter 2 at its world premiere during Fantastic Fest, where the film continued the story established in 2024’s The Strangers: Chapter 1.
Madelaine Petsch returns as Maya, whose survival from the previous attack creates an unfinished problem for The Strangers. After discovering that one of their victims is still alive, the masked killers return with the intention of completing what they started.
With few places to hide and little certainty about who she can trust, Maya once again finds herself fighting to survive as The Strangers pursue her and anyone who gets between them and their target.
Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath also star.
Harlin returns to direct from a screenplay by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on characters created by Bryan Bertino. The film serves as the middle installment of the trilogy conceived as an expanded exploration of the world first introduced in Bertino’s 2008 home-invasion horror film The Strangers.
Rather than resetting the premise with another group of victims, Chapter 2 continues Maya’s story directly, shifting the threat beyond the initial home-invasion scenario as the killers pursue the survivor of their previous attack.
The home release gives the film another stop following its theatrical and festival run. HMU was on hand for the world premiere at Fantastic Fest, and now audiences who missed the film theatrically will have the opportunity to add the latest chapter to their home horror lineup.
The Strangers: Chapter 2, starring Madelaine Petsch, Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath, arrives on 4K and Digital from Lionsgate on October 13.
