Tribeca 2026 Lineup Drops With Strong Horror and Thriller Selections
The summer festival circuit is starting to take shape as the Tribeca Film Festival unveils its 2026 features and shorts program. Running June 3–14, this year’s lineup includes a range of horror, thriller, and genre-adjacent titles set to make their mark in New York, with tickets now available.
Among the selections, several projects stand out within the horror and thriller space, offering a mix of psychological tension, supernatural themes, and grounded genre storytelling.
Breeder (Horror, Thriller)
A remote setting and power imbalance drive Breeder, where an eccentric poodle breeder recruits a financially struggling college student under the guise of research funding. The arrangement quickly reveals darker intentions, shifting into contained psychological horror.
Dante (Thriller)
Directed by Hugo Ruíz, Dante follows a young paramedic caught between rival crime factions after responding to an emergency call. The narrative unfolds over a single night, escalating into a series of violent confrontations. The cast includes Chino Darín and Ester Expósito.
The Haunting of Pennhurst (Documentary, Horror)
This documentary revisits the real-life history of Pennhurst, a former institution for people with disabilities that closed in 1987 after decades of documented abuse. Directed by Nathan Stenberg, Katarina Poljak, and Mike Attie, the film follows disabled performers as they reinterpret the site’s history through a haunted attraction framework.
Mutter: The Diary of a Mother (Drama, Horror, Mystery, Thriller)
Mutter centers on a woman who gives birth under traumatic circumstances to a child that is not entirely human. As she navigates isolation and fear, the story explores maternal instinct and protection through a horror lens. The cast includes Hazar Ergüçlü and Güven Kıraç.
Recluse (Horror, Mystery, Thriller)
Directed by Henry Chaisson, Recluse follows a woman returning to her childhood home to care for her father, only to encounter unresolved family trauma and a malevolent presence within the house. The film stars Sasha Frolova and Xander Berkeley.
Crooks (Drama, Thriller)
From Mickey Keating, Crooks shifts into crime thriller territory, set against a stylized Chicago backdrop. The film features Angela Trimbur, Chase Williamson, and Melora Walters, with a focus on deception and shifting loyalties.
The 2026 Tribeca lineup reflects a broad mix of genre storytelling, from traditional horror setups to documentary-driven narratives and crime-infused thrillers. With the festival set to run in early June, these titles mark some of the key genre entries to watch as the summer circuit begins.
