Tribeca Standout Our Hero, Balthazar Heads to Digital on August 11

One of 2026’s most talked-about independent coming-of-age dramas is making its way home.

Our Hero, Balthazar, the feature directorial debut from Oscar Boyson, arrives on Digital rental and purchase August 11 from WG Pictures and Radial Entertainment following its theatrical release earlier this year.

Boyson, best known as a producer on the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems and Good Time, co-wrote the screenplay with Ricky Camilleri. The film premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, where it earned Runner-Up for the Audience Award for Narrative Feature, before opening theatrically in March 2026. During its debut weekend, the film posted a $33,138 per-theater average at New York’s Regal Union Square before expanding nationwide.

The film stars Jaeden Martell (It, St. Vincent) as Balthy Malone and Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, Ender’s Game) as Solomon Jackson. The supporting cast includes Chris Bauer, Jennifer Ehle, Anna Baryshnikov, Noah Centineo, Becky Ann Baker, Avan Jogia, and Pippa Knowles.

Our Hero, Balthazar follows two isolated teenagers whose lives intersect through an online encounter. Balthy is a privileged but lonely teenager from New York who dreams of becoming a hero, while Solomon, living in Texas, seeks attention by posting increasingly violent threats online. Believing he can prevent a tragedy, Balthy travels across the country to befriend Solomon, setting both of them on a path where good intentions, loneliness, and the search for connection become increasingly difficult to separate from danger.

The film blends dark comedy with psychological drama while examining themes of adolescence, internet culture, social media influence, and the ways online attention can shape real-world decisions. Rather than approaching those ideas through a traditional thriller, Boyson frames the story as a contemporary coming-of-age tale with satirical and unsettling undertones.

Following its festival run and theatrical release, Our Hero, Balthazar now makes its digital debut, giving audiences another opportunity to catch one of this year’s notable independent releases.
