Visual Vengeance releases "Despiser" for the first time on Blu-ray

During the era of direct-to-video, filmmakers had the freedom to experiment fearlessly with both their subject matter and medium. While CGI was still in its early stages, visionary creators like Philip Cook embraced the technology, incorporating it heavily into their works. One of Cook’s standout features is the 2003 sci-fi film "Despiser", a monster-filled, action-packed romp that’s finally getting a Blu-ray release.

Despiser follows Gordon, a man who, after losing his job and wife, crashes his car and finds himself in purgatory. There, he is attacked by fanatics and enslaved souls but is rescued by a quirky group of freedom fighters from different historical eras, all of whom died in noble sacrifice. Reluctantly, Gordon joins their cause, embarking on a wild adventure through surreal, hellish landscapes to battle the Despiser, the malevolent ruler of the realm. With shifting realities, monstrous creatures, and intense car chases over lava oceans, their journey builds to the ultimate showdown to save humanity.

"Despiser" will be released on Blu-ray by Visual Vengeance on October 22nd.

Starring Mark Redfield, Doug Brown, Gage Sheridan, Frank Smith and Michael Weitz.

For the first time ever on Blu-ray, Despiser features hours of new and archival bonus features including audio commentary, deleted scenes, and a making-of.
