Ready for your summer vibe check? Brooklyn-based alt-soul multi-instrumentalist Yellow Shoots just dropped the fan-demanded visual for his viral track “Soft One”, and it’s hitting like Pet Shop Boys with INXS energy—retro-funk synths, smooth soul vocals, and visuals that scream main character in NYC.

Already making rounds across Instagram and TikTok, “Soft One” has funneled fans toward the official YouTube video—shot guerrilla-style in the streets of New York. Directed by Tex Ritter with cinematography by Moe LaRena, the video captures everyday city life with confidence and movement. It’s dreamlike but grounded, raw but polished. Yellow Shoots says it best:

Yellow Shoots (aka Gregory Matthews, Philly-born and Brooklyn-bred) arranges and performs every instrument himself. He’s part modern funk savant, part spiritual narrator, letting fans into his process via Instagram Live and community engagement. “Soft One” was actually born in front of fans on IG back in 2021 and completed in just a few hours—a rare gem shaped in real time.
