Angela Sant’Albano Cast as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil: Requiem

Angela Sant’Albano announced as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem.
Angela Sant’Albano steps into the Resident Evil universe as new protagonist Grace Ashcroft.

Capcom has officially unveiled the performer stepping into the next chapter of survival horror.

Angela Sant’Albano has been confirmed as the voice and motion-capture artist behind Grace Ashcroft, the new leading character in Resident Evil: Requiem, the ninth mainline installment in the franchise. The game was first revealed during Los Angeles’ Summer Game Fest in June as part of the 30-year celebration of Resident Evil, and it is set for release February 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Set approximately 30 years after the missile strike on Raccoon City, Requiem centers on FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. Grace is still haunted by the mysterious death of her mother eight years earlier. When she is drawn into an investigation involving murders tied to Raccoon City’s buried past, she becomes entangled with former Umbrella scientist Dr. Victor Gideon, who claims she holds the key to unlocking a secret project.

Somewhere along that path, Grace crosses paths with Leon Kennedy, one of the franchise’s most recognizable figures. Capcom has confirmed the return of Nick Apostolides as Leon, continuing the performance he began in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, as well as Netflix’s Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Since its debut in 1996, Resident Evil has remained one of Capcom’s most successful and enduring properties. As of 2025, the franchise has generated approximately $11 billion in revenue — $8 billion from games and $3 billion from film, television, casino spinoffs and merchandising. The 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake has surpassed 10 million units sold, while Resident Evil Village (2021) remains the fastest-selling title in the series, with 13.5 million units sold within four years.

The franchise’s expansion continues beyond gaming, with Zach Cregger currently developing a film reboot.

Sant’Albano’s casting marks a notable step forward for the franchise’s next era. Her previous credits include Season 3 of Industry, HBO Max’s I Hate Suzie, and Apple TV’s The Buccaneers. She made her feature debut in Genius alongside Nicole Kidman, Laura Linney and Colin Firth.

With Grace Ashcroft positioned at the center of Requiem, Capcom appears ready to connect legacy trauma with a new generational lead. Thirty years into the franchise, Resident Evil is not just revisiting its past — it is expanding it.
