The first official trailer has arrived for Verity, offering audiences a suspenseful look at the upcoming psychological thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.

Directed by Michael Showalter and adapted for the screen by Nick Antosca, Verity opens exclusively in theaters on October 2.

The film stars Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, with Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner rounding out the principal cast.

Adapted from Hoover’s bestselling novel, Verity follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), who is hired to complete a successful book series after its celebrated author, Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), is left unable to finish her work.

Lowen relocates to the secluded Crawford estate, where she begins organizing Verity’s notes and unpublished manuscripts. While searching through the author’s office, she discovers what appears to be an autobiographical manuscript containing disturbing confessions involving Verity, her husband Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett), and a series of tragic events that challenge everything Lowen believes about the family.

As she digs deeper into the writings, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur, forcing Lowen to question whether the manuscript reveals hidden truths or is part of a much larger deception.

The newly released trailer leans heavily into the film’s psychological tension, showcasing the isolated estate, shifting character dynamics, and a growing sense of paranoia. The footage teases a stylish thriller built around obsession, manipulation, and unreliable perspectives while withholding many of the story’s biggest revelations.

Alongside the trailer, the first official poster has also been released, giving audiences another look at the adaptation ahead of its fall theatrical debut.
