Beyond Fest 2026 Unveils 81-Film Lineup With Robert Eggers, M. Night Shyamalan, ‘Carrie’ and ‘V/H/S/Mixtape’
Beyond Fest is returning to Los Angeles with one of its largest programs to date, unveiling an 81-feature lineup spanning world premieres, new genre films, restorations, retrospectives and in-person appearances from filmmakers and performers including Robert Eggers, M. Night Shyamalan, Michael Mann, Jamie Lee Curtis, Al Pacino, Danny DeVito, Fede Álvarez, RZA and more.
Presented by MUBI and programmed and produced in partnership with the American Cinematheque, Beyond Fest runs Sept. 23 through Oct. 6. This year’s program includes 10 world premieres, one international premiere, four North American premieres, seven U.S. premieres and 28 West Coast premieres.
Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime will open the festival with its West Coast premiere at Directors Village, while Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother will make its West Coast premiere at the MUBI Theatre at the Aero.
Beyond Fest will also bring Ken Russell’s The Devils back to the big screen with simultaneous 35mm presentations at the Egyptian Theatre and Aero Theatre. The screenings arrive 55 years after the controversial film’s original release.
One of the festival’s centerpiece events will be “A Decade of Decay,” a daylong celebration of Robert Eggers. The filmmaker will appear in person for chronological screenings of The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman and Nosferatu. Eggers will also discuss his work and present an exclusive first look at footage from his upcoming film Werwulf, which is scheduled to reach theaters this Christmas.
Several anticipated genre projects will also receive special presentations. Duncan Jones will attend with Rogue Trooper, his adaptation of the 2000 AD comic character, while Mike Flanagan will appear with cast members to premiere the first two episodes of Prime Video’s Carrie.
Sung Kang will bring Drifter to the festival, while Brad Caleb Kane will present Crystal Lake, which explores the early years of the Voorhees story. Conor Oberst will pair the world premiere of his short film Invention 13 with Nobuhiko Obayashi’s Hausu.
RZA will premiere an episode of Saturday Afternoon Kung-Fu Theater - Born Invincible, paired with a 4K restoration of Master of the Flying Guillotine.
Horror remains a significant part of the 2026 lineup. The world premiere of V/H/S/Mixtape brings together RZA, Flying Lotus and Ernest Dickerson, while several films arriving from this year’s genre festival circuit will make their West Coast premieres.
Those include Mike P. Nelson’s giant-snake feature Beware Boiúna, Zachary Wigon’s Maika Monroe-led Victorian Psycho, Raviv Ullman and Greg Yagolnitzer’s Drag, Joshua Giuliano’s River, Samjad’s vampire action film Half, Adam Egypt Mortimer’s Pathetic Fallacy, Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch’s The Swallow and Jordan Downey’s The Cycle.
The festival’s broader slate includes West Coast premieres of Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Look Back, Alex Gibney’s Musk, Russell Goldman’s Sender, Anton Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, Dempsey Bryk’s Crash Land, Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur, James Gray’s Paper Tiger, Doron Max Hagay’s She Keeps Me Young and Jonás Cuarón’s Campeón Gabacho.
Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson will also bring Wicker to Los Angeles for its West Coast premiere.
Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s The Samurai and the Prisoner - Black and White Edition will receive its international premiere, while Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma returns in a different form with the world premiere of its “VHS Edition.”
Beyond Fest will continue its tradition of pairing repertory screenings with appearances from the filmmakers and performers behind them.
Alongside the previously announced M. Night Shyamalan retrospective, Bruce Dern will appear for a program featuring The ’Burbs, Silent Running and The Driver, as well as the U.S. premiere of Mike Mendez’s documentary Dernsie: The Amazing Life of Bruce Dern.
Dolph Lundgren will attend a presentation of Dolph: Unbreakable paired with Universal Soldier. Martin Brest will be joined by Danny DeVito for Hot Dogs for Gauguin and Beverly Hills Cop, while Al Pacino will join Brest for Scent of a Woman.
DeVito will additionally appear for a 70mm presentation of Hoffa, marking the film’s first screening in the format in 30 years.
Michael Mann is also revisiting one of his films for the festival. Twenty years after Miami Vice, Mann will present the world premiere of an all-new 4K cut titled Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut.
The restoration program includes the North American premiere of David Lynch’s Wild at Heart in 4K and a special presentation of Mulholland Drive. Bob Odenkirk will introduce a new 4K restoration of Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx, while E. Elias Merhige will bring Begotten to the festival in 4K.
Bong Joon Ho’s The Host will also screen in a new 4K restoration. Terror Vision will present the world premiere of its restoration of Crowley, and Severin will debut its 4K restoration of Michele Soavi’s The Goodbye Kiss.
Several modern genre films will receive anniversary screenings. Fede Álvarez returns alongside Rodo Sayagues, Stephen Lang and Danny Zovatto for the 10th anniversary of Don’t Breathe. Jeremy Saulnier will revisit Green Room with special guests, while Dennis Hauck, John Hawkes and members of the cast will celebrate Los Angeles noir Too Late. Babak Anvari and Narges Rashidi will also attend a 10th-anniversary screening of Under the Shadow.
Beyond Fest’s free programming at the Los Feliz 3 will again provide space for emerging filmmakers and festival discoveries.
West Coast premieres include Paolo Strippoli’s The Spiral, Ben Sottak’s Hallowarrior, Caleb Phillips’ Imposters, Óscar Martín’s Upiro, Matt Barats’ Anchors Aweigh, Alex Schulman’s Adult Supervision, Koji Shiraishi’s Kinki, Noah Stratton-Twine and Jake Kuhn’s The Peril at Pincer Point and Isabel Sandoval’s Moonglow.
The Los Feliz program will also host the North American premieres of Rebekah McKendry’s vampire film Sundown, Casey Walker’s Ithaqua and Nathan and Ben McQuaid’s Welcome to G-Town.
World premieres include Nadim Tabet’s ghost story In This Darkness I See You, Sean Hogan’s The Dark Gets In, Britt Falardeau’s Hinter and Alison Eve-Hammersly’s Erie. Paul Wright’s Mission will receive its U.S. premiere, while Max DeFalco’s Ten Will receives a special presentation.
With 81 features spread across two weeks, Beyond Fest’s 2026 program combines some of the year’s most anticipated new genre projects with an extensive repertory lineup and a significant collection of filmmaker and cast appearances.
Beyond Fest runs Sept. 23 through Oct. 6 in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Thursday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. PT, with a virtual waiting room opening through the American Cinematheque.
