DROP from Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes Heads to Digital and 4K UHD Release
The mind-bending abduction thriller Drop from Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is heading to home entertainment following a modest but buzzy theatrical run. From Blumhouse, the producers of M3GAN, and Platinum Dunes, the producers of A Quiet Place, Drop is an action-packed thriller that proves first dates can be deadly. The film, which stars Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Brandon Sklenar (1923), Violett Beane (The Flash), and Jeffrey Self (Search Party), arrives exclusively on digital platforms to own or rent tomorrow, April 29, 2025, via Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The blood-chilling action also debuts on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on June 10, 2025.
Drop follows Violet (Fahy), a widowed mother who must navigate a nightmarish first date with a charming photographer named Henry. Their evening takes a terrifying turn when Violet receives anonymous drops to her phone, showing a masked intruder inside her home. Ordered to complete a series of instructions—or watch her family die—Violet faces an impossible final command: kill her date.
Directed by acclaimed genre favorite Christopher Landon, Drop captured early buzz with its high-stakes narrative, tight pacing, and clever twists, although some viewers found the execution slightly messier than needed. Nonetheless, it’s one of the standout genre titles from the first half of 2025, and its home release is expected to reach even wider audiences.
