Chase Sui Wonders in Talks to Join A24’s ‘GOBLIN’ Alongside Kenneth Branagh
Chase Sui Wonders in Talks to Join A24’s Raunchy Comedy ‘GOBLIN’
A24’s mysterious GOBLIN may be adding another familiar face to its increasingly unusual ensemble.
Chase Sui Wonders is in talks to join filmmaker David Mikalson’s upcoming film for A24, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Should a deal close, Wonders would join previously announced cast members Kenneth Branagh, Skyler Gisondo and Will Forte.
Details surrounding GOBLIN remain largely under wraps, although the film is being described as a raunchy comedy. Branagh is set to provide the voice of the titular Goblin, while additional information about the characters being played by Gisondo and Forte has yet to be revealed.
The potential casting would continue a busy stretch for Wonders, who has moved between comedy, horror and drama across several recent projects.
She recently appeared in the horror franchise revival I Know What You Did Last Summer and stars as Quinn Hackett in the Seth Rogen-led Hollywood satire The Studio. Following the show’s Emmy-winning first season, Wonders is expected to return for Season 2.
Comedy is also territory Wonders has openly expressed an interest in exploring further. Speaking with THR ahead of the first season of The Studio, the actress discussed growing up with films including Pineapple Express and her admiration for the type of comedy associated with Rogen and his collaborators.
“They really let me be a freak in this show, and that was so liberating, and it empowered me to embrace my inner court jester,” Wonders previously told the outlet about working on The Studio. “I just want to do more of this, because at the end of the day it’s just really fun to laugh.”
While GOBLIN appears poised to lean heavily into comedy, the title and involvement of A24 should make the project one worth keeping an eye on for genre audiences — particularly with Branagh voicing whatever creature is at the center of the story.
The project would also deepen Wonders’ relationship with A24.
She is set to star in Slayground, the upcoming film from Green Room and Rebel Ridge filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier. The A24 release is currently scheduled to arrive January 29, 2027.
Wonders is also in production on Naughty, Olivia Wilde’s upcoming holiday comedy in which she stars opposite Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage.
For now, exactly what Mikalson has planned for GOBLIN remains a mystery. A24 has not revealed a synopsis, production timeline or release date, leaving the combination of its title, Branagh’s voice performance and the promise of a raunchy comedy as the biggest clues to the film’s direction.
With Wonders now circling the project alongside Gisondo, Forte and Branagh, however, GOBLIN is assembling a cast that makes the mystery surrounding it considerably more interesting.
We’ll have more on A24’s GOBLIN as additional details emerge.
