Chris Jericho to Star in Werewolf Horror ‘I AM THE TEETH’ as Epic Pictures Launches AFM Sales
Wrestling star and actor Chris Jericho has joined the cast of I AM THE TEETH, a new creature horror adventure from director Scott B. Hansen (Bad Candy). Epic Pictures Group will introduce the project to international buyers at the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles, where exclusive proof-of-concept footage will be presented ahead of a planned 2027 production.
Jericho, whose acting credits include the Terrifier franchise, will portray a mysterious and ruthless bounty hunter known as The Hunter. The cast also includes Hope Jordan (Devour) as Mae and Thomas Parobek (Cobra Kai).
I AM THE TEETH follows five middle school students searching for a missing pet who encounter a werewolf in the woods surrounding their town. After accidentally trapping the creature, they discover that it is actually a young woman who disappeared more than a decade earlier. Their attempt to protect her becomes increasingly dangerous when a relentless bounty hunter begins pursuing them, while evidence suggests another terrifying threat may be lurking nearby.
The film is written by J.R. Curtis, Scott B. Hansen, and Desiree Hansen, with Hansen directing under Epic Pictures Group's Dread Originals banner.
Epic is currently co-financing the project and filming selected scenes to create a proof-of-concept presentation for prospective distributors. Principal production on the remaining feature is scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2027.
Patrick Ewald, CEO of Epic Pictures Group, described the film as a combination of classic action-adventure storytelling and contemporary creature horror.
“I Am the Teeth is exactly the kind of exciting, original genre film we love bringing to audiences,” Ewald said. “It has the spirit of the classic action-adventure movies we grew up with, but with a fresh horror twist that makes it incredibly fun.”
Ewald also highlighted Jericho's involvement, expressing confidence that the actor's presence and Hansen's approach to the material would help the project reach international audiences.
Jericho, who has continued expanding his acting career alongside his professional wrestling work, described The Hunter as a particularly intense character.
“I've always been a huge horror fan, and I Am the Teeth has everything I love about the genre — scary monsters, gory kills, a clever storyline and plenty of twists!” Jericho said.
The actor compared the film's blend of childhood adventure and supernatural danger to The Goonies and Silver Bullet, suggesting a story that combines young protagonists with more violent creature-feature elements.
Director Scott B. Hansen cited The Monster Squad and The Sandlot among the films influencing the project's approach to childhood adventure, mystery, and horror.
“I wanted to make the kind of movie that made me fall in love with filmmaking as a kid — something filled with adventure, mystery, memorable characters and genuine scares,” Hansen said.
Hansen previously directed Bad Candy, the 2020 anthology horror film featuring interconnected Halloween stories. His latest project shifts toward a single creature-driven narrative, combining a missing-person mystery with werewolf mythology and a group of young characters facing threats beyond their understanding.
I AM THE TEETH joins Epic Pictures Group's growing collection of independently produced genre titles under its Dread Originals label, which focuses on horror and thriller productions for international distribution.
The film's AFM presentation will offer buyers an early look at the project's visual approach and creature-horror elements while Epic continues assembling financing and distribution arrangements ahead of the planned production schedule.
With filming on the full feature targeted for early 2027, I AM THE TEETH remains in development and early production. A theatrical release date and distribution details have not yet been announced.
