Milo Hutton, Booboo Stewart and KaDee Strickland Join Psychological Horror Thriller ‘THE THING IN THE HALL’
Milo Hutton (The Night Agent), Booboo Stewart (Twilight) and KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) have joined the cast of THE THING IN THE HALL, an independent psychological horror thriller currently filming in Los Angeles. The project marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Logan Kishi and is inspired by a short story from British author E. F. Benson.
The film follows Francis Assheton (Stewart), a psychology graduate student who moves into the isolated home of his longtime friend Louis Fielder (Hutton). Their reunion takes an unsettling turn when Louis introduces Francis to his experiments involving spiritualism. As the two become increasingly invested in exploring the supernatural, their shared curiosity leads them into circumstances neither fully understands.
Strickland will portray Claire Winter, a defense attorney assigned to investigate Francis's account of events following a fatal incident. Her involvement introduces a legal investigation into the story, suggesting that the consequences of Francis and Louis's experiments extend beyond their initial supernatural encounters.
THE THING IN THE HALL draws inspiration from the work of E. F. Benson, the English novelist and short-story writer known for his contributions to supernatural and ghost fiction. Benson's horror stories frequently explored psychological unease, unexplained phenomena and the dangers of encounters with forces beyond human understanding.
Kishi is making his feature filmmaking debut with the project, which is being produced through his company, Darkbox Entertainment. Additional production details, including the film's anticipated release plans, have not been announced.
Hutton recently appeared in Netflix's political action thriller The Night Agent and is also attached to Jackson May's upcoming independent drama Degrees. A recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, the actor continues to expand his screen credits with the new horror project.
Stewart is widely recognized for portraying Seth Clearwater in the Twilight franchise and Jay in Disney's Descendants films. His television credits include Freeform's Good Trouble, while his work across film and television has included fantasy, drama and supernatural storytelling.
Strickland brings an extensive television and film background to the production. She is best known for her role as Charlotte King on ABC's Private Practice, with additional appearances in Chicago Fire and Cruel Summer. Her film credits include American Gangster, The Stepford Wives and Something's Gotta Give.
The combination of spiritualist experimentation, an isolated setting and a subsequent criminal investigation places THE THING IN THE HALL within the psychological and supernatural horror genres, with the mystery surrounding Francis's experiences serving as the central narrative.
Production is currently underway in Los Angeles. A distributor and release date for THE THING IN THE HALL have not yet been announced.
