Midnight madness is officially in good hands.
Genre-forward distributor Chroma has secured North American rights to “Blind Cop 2,” the 1980s-inspired action riot from writer-director Alec Bonk. International sales are being handled by Narrative Global Sales, which is presenting the film to buyers at the European Film Market.
Described as a standalone, nostalgia-fueled action spectacle, Blind Cop 2 leans hard into outrageous violence, absurdist humor and unapologetic genre excess. The premise is pure cult-bait: when illegal weapons trafficking floods the streets, a grieving blind police officer takes it upon himself to cleanse the city before chaos erupts.
The film was written by Bonk alongside Augustin Huffman and Isaac McKinnon, and it has already carved out a serious footprint on the festival circuit. It picked up Best Film (Midnight Competition) at Fantaspoa, Best Off-Beat Comedy Feature at Another Hole in the Head, Best Director at the Wyoming International Film Festival and Best Action Film at MidWest Weird Fest. It has also screened at Panic Fest, Macabro Fich and Etreum Horror Fest, while currently touring North American theaters on a roadshow run.
Chroma’s VP Ahbra Perry called the film “an ode to the action-packed cinema so many of us grew up on,” noting its sharp satire of the bombast and attitude that defined 80s and 90s action films. For those raised on hyper-macho heroes, VHS-era grit and synth-driven mayhem, the pitch is clear: this is midnight programming gold.
Bonk echoed that sentiment, explaining that the film was born out of a childhood obsession with 80s action cinema. What began as a love letter turned into a decade-long journey to craft a spiritual sequel to the larger-than-life heroes that shaped an entire generation of moviegoers.
With its festival wins, throwback aesthetic and cult-friendly branding, Blind Cop 2 feels tailor-made for genre audiences hungry for late-night chaos. Chroma plans a digital release in North America later this year, while Narrative Global Sales continues its international push at EFM 2026.
For fans of grindhouse energy, neon-soaked vigilante justice and action films that know exactly how ridiculous they are, Blind Cop 2 is coming in hot.
