Curry Barker’s Horror Thriller ‘OBSESSION’ Opens Nationwide in Theaters Today
OBSESSION is now playing in theaters nationwide following a festival run that included screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival, South by Southwest, and Beyond Fest.
Directed by Curry Barker, the film stars Inde Navarrette, Michael Johnston, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter.
Ahead of the theatrical launch, two new clips from the film have been released, showcasing different sides of Navarrette’s character Nikki. One sequence focuses on a seemingly normal date scenario, while the second previews the escalating emotional instability and psychological unraveling that drives much of the film’s tension.
The newly released footage continues emphasizing the film’s blend of relationship drama, psychological horror, and escalating obsession-driven paranoia.
Since premiering at TIFF last year, OBSESSION has generated attention on the festival circuit for its modern thriller setup and emotionally volatile character dynamics. The project later screened at SXSW and BeyondFest Chicago, where audiences responded to the film’s combination of awkward intimacy, manipulation, and psychological deterioration.
The theatrical release arrives as audiences continue showing strong interest in contained horror thrillers focused on toxic relationships, emotional instability, and social tension.
HMU previously covered the film during its SXSW screening, describing it as a twisted friend-zone horror story built around escalating emotional obsession and uncomfortable relationship dynamics.
OBSESSION is now playing exclusively in theaters nationwide.
